Hope in the dark

There’s a storm coming. Much like in life. I’m watching it roll in, darkness is covering up all the light, trees are bending in the fierce gale of the wind … destruction is on the horizon … it’s as in life. One minute blue skies and the next darkness. But the hope we hang on to is that the storm will pass. The ground will be different after it rolls through but new life will replace all that was carried away. Beauty after storms. It is the cycle of life. It is the hope in the dark. The creator is in charge of both. And nothing he allows returns void.

I’ve been going through a season I am not a fan of. I read an article today by one of my favorite authors in carpool line today and it was so poignant. Would I rather circumvent the path I’ve been given to walk and miss what God is trying to teach me or trust His path is for my good. Some of His best work is done in the winter seasons. Where there is no good to be seen. Even when it looks barren, work is going on under ground or in my situation on the inside.

One of my favorite songs on repeat is “ Take Courage – by Bethel”. One chorus says:

So take courage my heart

Stay steadfast my soul

He’s in the waiting

He’s in the waiting

Hold onto your hope

As your triumph unfolds

He’s never failing

He’s never failing

I love that line “ as your triumph unfolds. That is what He offers if you will just trust Him to get you there. Triumph!

And that is great news!Regardless of the current outside appearances.

In a few days we will celebrate that God put on skin came to earth as a humble baby to be the Hope that we could always hold onto, regardless. He is the hope that came in the dark. He is still the hope when all seems dark. He will not fail you.
